  • Danbury

Danbury, the former Hat Capital of the World, is about 60 miles west of Hartford. The town's history is well documented in the Danbury Museum and Historical Society on Main Street. Danbury has numerous avenues for outdoor fun. There are several nature preserves that offer trails, forging their way through a multitude of ecosystems, that are great for hiking, biking, jogging and horseback riding. One of the most active sites in Danbury is Candlewood Lake. Connecticut's largest lake with 60 miles of shoreline is a man-made haven for swimming, diving, fishing and boating

  • Hartford

One of America's oldest towns, Hartford is a treasure trove of historic sites in a small package. It has hosted many "firsts" ? Wadsworth Atheneum, the country's first public museum; Bushnell Park, the first public park; and Elizabeth Park, America's first municipal rose garden, to name a few.

  • Manchester

Manchester sits on the banks of the Merrimack River in south central New Hampshire. Revitalized Manchester is an attractive, upscale community. Dining out here is an ethnic affair with a variety of choices from Chinese to Middle Eastern. Spectator sports include the Manchester Monarch's hockey team and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats baseball team. Fish or hike at pretty Lake Messabesic.

  • Meriden

Meriden, once the home of the International Silver Company and foremost leader in silverware manufacturing, has mellowed since its heyday. Plans are in the making to replace old buildings with new shops and restaurants. There are several nice hiking trails in parks in the area and the Farmington River in Canton one of the best fly fishing spots in the state.
