Home to many hours of summertime pleasures from lazy strolls to concerts, art shows and Shakespearean plays, Wilcox Park embodies all the characteristics that make this town great: charm and dignity, beauty and entertainment.
A 208-acre city forest accentuates a sense of tranquility rarely found elsewhere. A 1.5 mile trail meanders through this isle of peace, beckoning hikers and joggers to its path.
In town, there are many specialty shops that offer a wide variety of items. One shop that helps customers to feel good about themselves is the Claws Jungle Oasis spa. Both men and women can take advantage of the luxurious treatments including message therapy, hair and body treatments, and reflexology.
A fun way to discover the town is to take a cruise on Duckland & Water Tours. This wacky vehicle is a restored World War II amphibious boat that waddles and paddles its way through Westerly while the captain narrates stories of landmarks encountered along the way.
Soft ocean breezes and the tide rumbling to shore. Old New England homes, neat but weathered by the salt air, peering out over the restless sea. Lapping sounds of the water as it spanks little boats huddled in a marina. These, too, are scenes from the world of Westerly.
The town of Westerly is composed of five villages: Westerly proper, Watch Hill, Misquamicut, Weekapaug, and Bradford. Between them, there are endless activities. Seven miles of pristine beaches and soft warm sands draw in tourists during the summertime.
There's plenty of activity to keep everyone happy: sailing and fishing on a salt pond, crabbing, observing nature at a park and preserve, boogie boarding, jet skiing, kayaking ... and the list goes on. In addition, there's golf, tennis and racquet ball facilities. Boating and sportsfishing are also offered. And of course, everyone's favorite is beachcombing. There isn't much that Westerly doesn't offer.
